Members of the group have forged strong links with the academic accounting community, serving as journal associate editors and reviewers, as well as working closely with policy-makers and financial market practitioners. They routinely present their research in workshops and at conferences organised by leading academic institutions and premier academic journals.

The group strives to conduct academically rigorous and impactful research that helps standard setters with developing high-quality accounting standards, improves how companies communicate with external investors, and informs investors about using accounting information for capital allocation decisions. They pursue research in all areas of accounting, including international accounting, standard setting, and non-financial reporting, and study investors' use of accounting information and companies' information environments.

The next International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) Research Forum will be held at Oxford Saïd on 2–3 November 2020, in conjunction with Accounting and Business Research (ABR).

Should FASB and IASB be responsible for setting standards for nonfinancial information?

The Oxford Union debate was held on Tuesday 11 December with the motion: This House believes that corporate sustainability reporting should be mandated, and standardised by FASB and IASB, for it to be most useful for investors.
